Allama Iqbal's huge mosque was installed in a public park in Lahore, hurting the aesthetic sense of the people of taste all over Pakistan.  Voices of protest and anger were raised from all sides and the sculptor and its installers were ridiculed.

The art of sculpture has died out in Pakistan and our state and its occupying elites have played a leading role in killing it.  The elites, fearful of the Maulvi, surrendered to the Maulvi in order to save their power, which they thought could prolong his rule.

The first wave against sculpture was the removal of statues of various celebrities installed at more than one place in Lahore.  The statue of Queen Victoria on the Charing Cross was lifted and placed in the Lahore Museum, where the Holy Quran was placed.  Similarly, the statue of Lord Lawrence, the statue of Lala Lajpat Rai, the statue of Dayal Singh were removed and moved to other places.

Then the Maulvi said that making a statue is a sin.  As a result, the artists involved in the art of sculpture became destitute.  The NCA's sculpture department became barren.  Under the influence of Islamization, students began to shy away from enrolling in this department.  Now that no one will come into the field, where will the good sculptors come from?
